Gram Tarang Financial Services was registered as a private limited company with the Registrar of Companies. It was also registered with the Reserve Bank of India under section 45/1A as an NBFC (Non Deposit Accepting).

Gram Tarang Financial Services (GTFS) is a new generation microfinance institution founded with a mission to promote entrepreneurship and to extend financial services to marginalized groups, women and the youth especially from tribal areas in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Southern Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and north eastern India in courteous, efficient and transparent environment. GTFS is headquartered in Visakhapatnam and opened its 1st branch in Parlakhemundi, Orissa state on 17th July 2009. The large number of poor needing financial services, along with a clear mission and a dedicated team will allow us to serve over 1 million clients in the next 5 years who lack access to formal financial services. Through the provision of small loans we target marginalized women and poor students and help them start livelihood activities. In its various interactions with the participants and stakeholders in the development sector, GTFS realized that there is a sizeable number of women and youth amongst the not so privileged sections of the society who either had no clear career option in front of them or had a dream of being their own bosses. As a result of various discussions in understanding the situation and needs of the community, GTFS thought of entrepreneurship promotion initiative that provides the clients a new livelihood option ? starting their own enterprises.

The core idea behind starting Gram Tarang Financial Services (GTFS) is the spirit of enterprise that we want to promote, introduce and inculcate among the marginalized as we strongly believes in the entrepreneurial spirit and capability of the non-formal sector. We realize the urgent need and potential that is present in the rural and semi urban communities in India. A potential which if exploited properly can yield tremendous results in the form of thousands of highly competitive small enterprises. Our attempt is to wed and juxtapose these potentials, to focus in the women and the youth especially from tribal areas, and to promote small enterprises and its products in the light and benefits of modern tools of management and technology by providing managerial, technical and financial support on continuous basis.

GTFS has already partnered with its sister concern Gram Tarang Employability Services Pvt. Ltd, a skill building venture providing training to school dropouts to mould them into blue and white color professionals. GTFS is funding fund up to 50% of the course fees to the youth from SC, ST, OBC and Minority Communities at low interest rates enabling them to successfully complete job guaranteed 1 year certified training programme. Further, GTFS along with its sister concern is also planning to provide managerial, financial and technical support on continuous basis to the youth enabling them to promote their own enterprises.

GTFS?s sister concern Gram Tarang Employability Services Pvt. Ltd shall receive grant tuning Rs. 3 Crores annually for the next 5 year from Government of India to impart 2 months free training on various vocational skills to 5,000 BPL youth annually. The mandate from the government is to provide compulsory employment to all the youth after the completion of the training programme apart from providing free boarding and lodging facilities during the training period. As a part of this training programme, GTFS is encouraging the children of its microfinance clients to secure free training and more than 200 youth were gainfully employed till date.
